<p>PURPOSE:To aim at stabilizing engine output at a speed reducing time and the like from the high speed and load driving of an engine by controlling the engine such that an intake/exhaust air overlap period becomes larger as the speed and load of the engine becomes higher as well as the engine output is made larger at the speed reducing time and the like of an engine. CONSTITUTION:A timing change device 20 is controlled by an overlap control means, so that an intake/exhaust air overlap period is controlled to be large at the high speed and high load time of an engine and small at the low speed and low load time. When the intake/exhaust air overlap period is detected to be large by an overlap detecting means despite an engine is in a small overlap area, an output adjusting means 41 is controlled so as to make the engine output larger by a control means 30. Accordingly, even in case the engine speed is lowered due to the delayed actuation of the timing change device 20 while maintaining the intake/exhaust air overlap period large, the engine can be maintained stable in spite of the backflow of residual gas to an air intake passage.</p> |
