<p>PURPOSE:To miniaturize a printer and to reduce costs by providing an optical scanning mechanism which incorporates a linear light source capable of instantaneously lighting on and has a cylinder provided with a spiral slit and a plate provided with a linear shutter. CONSTITUTION:When a slit cylinder 24 rotates, a timing detection signal 38 equivalent to one dot in the main scan direction is transmitted to a timing detection circuit 39 from a sensor 28 to generate a normalized timing signal 40, and inputted to a light source lighting circuit 41. Simultaneously printing pattern signals 42 are transmitted in series, a light beam lighting signal 44 obtained by taking AND of both signals is transmitted to a light source 29 from the light source lighting circuit 41 to turn on/off the light source 29. Emitted in the intersection 31 of spiral and linear slits 26 and 30, a light beam 36 from a light source 27 focuses on the surface of a photosensitive drum 7 through a converging rod lens array to form a latent image.</p> |
