PURPOSE: To firmly attach an exchangeable filter cartridge to a filter heed member by utilizing the insert lug parts disposed at a filter cartridge pressure vessel and a filter cartridge closure member, respectively. CONSTITUTION: A filter element 58 is provided with the closure member 56 of a nearly annular body having a hermetic sealing relation with the opening end of the pressure vessel 54 arranged therein. An annular rim part 61, a fist tubular part 64 and a second tubular part 62 are all arranged coaxially. The rim part 61 and the tubular part 62 are interconnected by a web part 63. Further, an aperture 68 as an inflow port to the pressure vessel 54 and an aperture 70 as an outflow port from the vessel 54 are demarkated by the closure member 56. A first pair of the transversely elongating lug part members 60 relating to the outside surface of the vessel 54 and a second pair of the transversely elongating lug part members 78 relating to the outside surface of the closure member 56 are disposed. The filter cartridge can be firmly attached to the filter head.
