710,560. Automatic temperature control. SIMPLEX ELECTRIC CO., Ltd. June 21, 1951 [June 26, 1950], No. 19830/53. Divided out of 710,491. Class 38(4) A heating element 9 is controlled by a thermally acuated bimetal switch 12, 15 having its actuating (heater) coil 16 energized from the voltage drop across a temperature - sensitiveresistor 13 associated with the heater and connected in series with a ballast resistor 10 which may act as a heater as shown, or be external to the heating element. The actuating coil circuit is also interrupted by the switch contacts so that the system cycles providing variable "On"/"Off" type of control. Modifications: (i) in the temperature-sensitive-resistor may form one arm of a bridge circuit, Fig. 2 (not shown); (ii) a second temperature-sensitive resistor may be arranged to control the heater of a second bimetallic element to provide purely thermostatic control, i.e. not connected over the switch contactor, when a predetermined maximum temperature is reached, Fig. 3 (not shown).
|
