710,788. Switches held set and freed mechanically. NAIMER, H. Jan. 2, 1952 [Jan. 2, 1951], No. 195/52. Class 38(5) A switch has one or more contact bridges 15 movable by rollers 5 engaging an operating cam 4, the rollers having spindles 9 of smaller diameter than the rollers and being guided in slots formed in the base so that only radial movements of the rollers are applied to the contact bridge(s). As shown, the ends of the spindles engage closely in slots 20 or guides 21 formed in the base 1 or cover 37 and pass freely between the legs of U-shaped members 8 carried by guides 7 for the contacts 15. Thus, any lateral movement of the spindle is not great enough for it to engage surfaces 8<SP>1</SP> of members 8, the latter only being engaged on surface 8" to move the bridges 15 radially against the action of springs 18. Two or more switches may be clamped together, as shown at a and b together with a locating device c. The fixed contacts 25 are formed on strip metal members 26 shaped as shown and fixed only by lateral lugs engaging recesses 32 in the body and cover. Specification 594,589 is referred to. |
