PURPOSE:To prevent a catalytic reactor from causing a fire by providing at least any one of a monitor camera and television for monitoring a catalyst, a thermometer for measuring the temperature of the catalyst surface, a gas thermometer, a CO meter and a viewing window and a fire extinguishing nozzle. CONSTITUTION:The subject apparatus comprises a monitor television connected to a monitor camera, a thermometer for sensing a rise in the temperature of the surfaces of a catalyst on fire or thermometer for sensing a rise in the temperature of the catalyst itself, a CO meter for sensing an increase in the amount of carbon monoxide(CO) due to the fire started by the catalyst, a viewing wondow provided on a reactor through which to find the occurrence of a catalyst fire and the extent and place of the fire and a fire extinguishing nozzle for spraying vapor or water on the fire originating places of the catalyst or the entire surface thereof. In the case of a fire originating in a denitrification catalyst to which are attached and deposited the dust or oil mist containing a large amount of unburnt exhaust gases when scattering from a boiler during the shut-down period, this fire prevention device prevents an expensive denitrification catalyst from being damaged or the fire from spreading to an air pre-heater or the entire denitrification device. |
