PURPOSE: To improve the stability of a cation exchange resin by bringing a cation exchange resin into contact with an antioxidant such as phenols and amines to introduce the effective amt. of the antioxidant into the cation exchange resin. CONSTITUTION: An antioxidant such as polycyclic phenols, amines, diamines, thioesters, phosphites and quinoline is dissolved in a proper nonreactive solvent to prepare an antioxidant soln. A cation exchange resin is brought into contact with the antioxidant soln. for a specified time to introduce the effective amt. of the antioxidant into the cation exchange resin to produce a cation exchange resin with improved stability. The amt. of the antioxidant introduced into the cation exchange resin is preferably >=80 wt.% of the antioxidant used, and more preferably >=90 wt.% of the antioxidant. |
