HYDROCARBON CONVERTING CATALYST AND CONVERSION METHOD USING THE SAME

PURPOSE: To form a catalyst for hydrocarbon conversion by preparing a sulfated calcined mixture of oxide or hydroxide of a group III or IV element of the Periodic Table, oxide or hydroxide of a group V, VI or VII element and oxide or hydroxide of a group VIII element. CONSTITUTION: The catalyst for hydrocarbon conversion comprises a sulfated calcined solid mixture of a 1st component which is oxide or hydroxide of a group III or IV element of the Periodic Table, a 2nd component which is oxide or hydroxide of a group V, VI or VII element and a 3rd component which is oxide or hydroxide of a group VIII element. The ratio of the 2nd component to the 3rd component is 0.1:1 to 2.0:1. A cyclic hydrocarbons having 4-7 carbon atoms per one molecule are isomerized by contact with the catalyst at temperatures of 0-400 deg.C and under pressures of 1-50 atm.
