PURPOSE:To keep the characteristic of pilot injection up stably by providing a fuel release chamber communicated with a pump chamber, storing a piston in the fuel release chamber and opening a spill port by means of the piston so as to let the fuel escape. CONSTITUTION:A fuel release chamber 26 is communicated with a pump chamber 18 through a feed oil passage 8. In the fuel release chamber 26, a piston 30 is stored slidably in the axial direction. The piston 30 receives the force of a return spring 31 and is pressed to the lead-in port side 28. When the moving quantity of the piston 30 becomes the fixed quantity, a spill port 33 is opened and the fuel in the fuel release chamber 26 is released to the low pressure value through the spill port so as to stop the pilot injection. The characteristic of the pilot injection can be thus kept up stably without being affected by the settling of the spring. |
