A fertilizer consists essentially of a vegetable fruit-based meal or product processed from fruit-based meal. Fruits contain all the nutrients essential for the production and growth of new plants. The invention turns this to account for the purposes of fertilization. A nitrogen-containing artificial fertilizer may be added to the fertilizer in order to supply nitrogen, in which fruit-based meal is generally deficient. However, another variant with a natural nitrogen content can also be manufactured. Nitrogen-containing liquid manures can be processed to obtain a fertilizer according to the invention and, as the latter can be easily stored and used, they can thus be eliminated; surprisingly, when treated with the product processed from fruit-based meal, the liquid manures lose their odour and the noxious substances are bound.
