PURPOSE:To enhance the utilization factor of manganese dioxide and increase the discharge capacity by permeating electrolyte into thin holes in a positive electrode black mix, and distributing it uniformly. CONSTITUTION:When electric discharge is made, electron conduction occurs in a positive electrode black mix 2 chiefly through carbon, and manganese dioxide reductive reaction is generated due to supply of protons at the manganese dioxide interface with electrolyte while oxidation of zinc is generated in a gel-formed negative electrode 4, and current flows through a separator 3. As the positive electrode black mix 2 is provided with carbon black subjected to the interface activating agent treatment, the surface tension between carbon black and electrolyte sinks to enhance the permeability of the positive electrode black mix, which allows the electrolyte to intrude into thin holes, and thereby uniform distribution of the electrolyte is obtained in the positive electrode black mix. This enhances the discharge characteristics with positive electrode utilization factor increased, and it becomes possible to provide the battery with high capacity. |
