A safety circuit for an adjustment device, which can be actuated manually by means of manual adjustment keys or in a programmed fashion by means of position keys and a memory key, of a seat, in particular a vehicle seat, is described, having an adjustment motor which can be activated via a motor relay, for each adjustment plane and with direction of rotation relays for a plurality of the adjustment motors in each case, the relays being driven by means of switching amplifiers which are driven by a microcontroller on the basis of the signals fed to the said microcontroller when keys are actuated, in which safety circuit the switching amplifiers for the direction of rotation relays are combined in a driver assembly in order to increase the functional reliability, which driver assembly is only connected to the supply voltage if a switch is closed as a result of at least one of the manual adjustment keys or a positioning key being actuated.
