Aq. mat coating compsn. contains: an aq. dispersion (I) of (A) a water-dispersible vinyl copolymer with acid no. 15-150, OH no. 30-200 and an alkoxysilane gp. in its side chain and (B) a melamine resin, which is not completely compatible with (A); or an aq. dispersion (II) of (A) and an aq. dispersion (III) of (B) and (C) a water-dispersible vinyl copolymer with acid no. 15-150 and OH no. 30-200, which contains no alkoxysilane gps. and is not completely compatible with (B). USE/ADVANTAGE - The compsn. can be applied by conventional methods (including spraying, electrostatic spraying, brushing, dipping and roller coating) as well as by electro(chemical) deposition and is highly stable. It gives durable films and eliminates the need for washing electrodeposited coatings with water. It is used for coating metals, e.g. Al (alloys), anodised Al and steel, opt. plated with Zn, Sn, Cr, Al etc.
