An atmospheric gas burner suitable for cooking purposes comprises a tubular combustion chamber 5 and two or more burner jets 2 which fire radially into the chamber and are disposed, or are disposed with deflector means, to give impinging flames which create a vortex in the chamber, causing air to be drawn into the chamber for enhanced combustion and greater heat generation. The jets 2, which may be fitted to injectors 3, are on a manifold 1 which supports the combustion chamber 5. As illustrated, the manifold 1 has arms radiating from a central part co-axial with the combustion chamber and having a gas supply connector 7, the combustion chamber is supported on the arms, the jets are mounted on the arms and fire into the chamber through openings in its circumferential wall, and deflectors 9 on the arms deflect the flames from the jets into impingements along the chamber. <IMAGE> |
