PURPOSE:To prolong the service life of a plasma cutting electrode and to improve its cutting efficiency by using a mixture of the oxide of Hf or Zr and the carbide of Hf or Zr as the electrode material for a plasma cutting torch. CONSTITUTION:The oxide of Hf or Zr is used as the essential component, and the carbide of Hf or Zr is incorporated to impart electric conductivity. A mixture contg. >=1 kind of component among >=1 kind of element among Y, Sr, B, and rare-earth elements, >=1 kind of oxide among the oxides of Y, Sr, B, and rare-earth elements, and >=1 kind of borate among the borates of Y, Sr, B, and rare-earth elements is used as the plasma cutting electrode material to reduce work function. Consequently, the service life of the cutting electrode is prolonged, the cutting efficiency is improved, the cost of consumables of the electrode is reduced, and high-efficiency cutting can be performed. |
