PURPOSE:To improve the recording and reproducing characteristics of the optical memory element by forming an optical film which allows the transmission of the light used for recording and reproducing and reflects a part of the light existing in the visible light region of the light of the other wavelengths to one side of a transparent substrate. CONSTITUTION:A recording medium 2 is formed on one surface of the transparent substrate 1 and a thin transparent dielectric film laminate 3 is formed on the other surface. The laminate 3 is formed by alternately laminating the high-refractive index thin dielectric films 3a having the refractive index larger than the refractive index of the substrate 1 and the low-refractive index thin dielectric films 3b having the refractive index smaller than the refractive index of the substrate 1. The reflectivity, therefore, attains the min. value at 780nm wavelength used for recording and reproducing and the light of the other wavelengths, more particularly the light near 520nm are reflected by the interference effect obtd. by the multilayered thin films. The optical memory element, therefore appears colored to the color corresponding to the wavelength without being impaired in the recording and reproducing characteristics of the element. The impairment of the recording and reproducing characteristics of the optical memory element is prevented in this way. |
