Novel azacyclic compounds having the formula wherein R<1> is H or C1-6-alkyl, and wherein R min is hydrogen, C1-6-alkyl, C3-8-cycloalkyl, C1-4-alkoxy, C1-6-alkenyl, C1-6-alkynyl, halogen or amino. The new compounds are useful in improving the cognitive functions of the forebrain and hippocampus of mammals, and are useful in the treatment of Alzheimer's disease.
