<p>PURPOSE:To measure the edge displacements of belt-like objects with simple and small-sized constitution at good linearity and high accuracy by constituting light guides and displacement detecting sensors arrayed with optical fibers in a dividing system into rectangular areas into one body. CONSTITUTION:The shading images projected by the edges of a magnetic tape 5 on a fixed surface 16 upon abutting of the light from coaxially disposed light guides 14 for the top end of the tape on the tape 5 are detected by displacement detecting sensors 20a-20d for photodetecting patterns which are formed integrally to the guides 14 and edge sensors 17 for the top end of the tape and in which optical fibers are arrayed in a division system into rectangular areas. The same holds true of edge sensors 15 for the bottom end. With such simple and small- sized constitution, the displacements of belt-like objects such as magnetic tapes are measured at good linearity and high accuracy.</p> |
