Geological and/or artificial formations, in which radioactive material is to be stored, for example underground or above-ground final or temporary storage places, must meet, for safety reasons, more stringent demands with respect to reliability, permanence and tightness. By means of a consolidation and/or sealing with the aid of organo-mineral products known per se, in particular using organo-mineral products which are formed by reacting organic polyisocyanates with epoxide resin(s) in the presence of aqueous alkali metal silicate solutions, outstanding consolidation can be achieved which is not significantly impaired by the radioactive emission. The use of solid organo-mineral products not having a foam structure also ensures the demanded gas tightness and water tightness. Consolidation and/or sealing of final or temporary storage places for radioactive material, civil engineering structures of nuclear power stations, transport vessels for radioactive material or decay pits and water containers, in which radioactive material is stored. |
