PURPOSE:To integrate a means for converting the liquid crystal display device to a color display device and a back light source by providing the back light source which is so constituted as to scatter the light introduced from a light source into light guiding members by light scattering and reflecting members in the light guiding members and to radiate the scattered light to the outside from the wall surfaces of the light guiding members. CONSTITUTION:The incident light 15 first advances successively into the bar-shaped light guiding member which confines the light to the inside by total reflection without leaking to the outside. This light is scattered by the light scattering and reflecting body 14 and is emitted to the outside. Such bar-shaped light guiding members 13-1 to 13-3, etc., are arrayed in parallel and light shielding films 17 are provided in the inside, by which the light 15 entering, for example, the light guiding member 13-1 from the light source 11 advances only in the member 13-1 and emerges to the outside only from the member 13-1. Since color filters 12-1 to 12-3, etc., are disposed to the end faces of the members 13-1 to 13-3, etc., the respective light guiding members emit the light of respectively different colors to the outside. The back light and the means for converting the display device to the color display device are integrated in this way and the bright color display is obtd. |
