PURPOSE:To accurately measure the thickness of a plate and to automate measurement by measuring the thickness of a plate for a storage battery at many points by a noncontact method, and automatically calculating an average of measured values. CONSTITUTION:When a plate 2 is moved between laser displacement meters 1, 1', distance between A and B is measured with sensors of the displacement meters 1, 1'. The thickness t of the plate 2 is obtained by subtracting the distance between A and B from the distance K which is previously set when the displacement meters 1, 1 ' were mounted. By repeating this operation many times within a short time, the thickness of the plate 2 can be measured at many points. By averaging measured values, an approximate value of the thickness of the plate 2 can be obtained. |
