A pharmaceutical formulation having a synergistic anti-bacterial activity and comprising (a) a cephalosporin derivative or a physiologically acceptable salt or ester thereof and (b) a penem antibiotic of the basic structure (B) <IMAGE> (B) or a physiologically acceptable salt or ester thereof, a process for preparing such a formulation and its use for the treatment of bacterial infections.
