<p>Magnetic character reader for documents such as cheques, bills of exchange, banking receipts and the like, of the type in which the document is driven along a first slot, along the lateral surface of a vertical cylinder driven by a motor and along a second slot in order to constitute a U-shaped trajectory, characterised in that the lateral surface of the said cylinder 12 is partially coated with spongy elastic material 12 over an axially limited area, and that an elastic belt is carried by idler wheels 22, 24, 26, 28 arranged in such a way that the elastic belt is maintained partially adhering to the lateral surface of the cylinder in the non-coated area, and at least one magnetic read head being pressed against the cylinder 12 in the area coated with spongy elastic material. <IMAGE></p> |
