PURPOSE:To improve display definition, to facilitate the connection of each signal line, to lower a fraction defective, and to reduce a cost by delta-arranging a picture element composed of plural small picture elements in a prescribed color cycle. CONSTITUTION:While respective picture elements 33-35,... corresponding to R (red), G (green), and B (blue) are arranged in the prescribed color cycle, for some picture elements adjacent to each other in a vertical direction (for example, a picture element 33 and a picture element 35), their phases are respectively shifted for a 1/2 picture element in a horizontal direction, and the adjacent picture elements are arranged in a so-scalled vertical directional delta arrangement. Further, a plane is filled with these delta-arranged R, G, and B picture elements 33-35,..., each of these picture elements is composed of four small picture elements 37-44..., and these small picture elements 37-44,... are arranged in a grid shape. Further, the display of all the delta- arranged picture elements is controlled by a switching element driving circuit. Thus, the title picture element display device can be obtained, which is never made into a display defective state even when one picture element is made into a display impossible state, has the excellent display definition, and can be easily and inexpensively manufactured. |
