PURPOSE:To compact a differential device by positioning a second gear train, in which a driving force is transmitted to an outer gear, at a cup member side forming a supporting member for a ring gear to which a driving force is transmitted and fitting the outer gear closely to the cup member. CONSTITUTION:A differential mechanism B of a rear differential with multiple gear trains G3 and G4 is housed in a hollow supporting member 65 to which a ring gear 64 meshed with a pinion 63 of a drive shaft 62 born by a bearing 61 is fixed. The supporting member 65 is formed by connecting a cup member 66 and a plate member 67 with bolts 68. The first gear train G3 transmits power to a drive shaft 76 through an outer gear 78 meshed with an inner gear 67C of the plate member 67 and an axle cam 77. Also, the second gear train G4, in which an outer gear 74 closely fitted into the cup section 66b of the cup member 66 is meshed with an inner gear 73, transmits power to a drive shaft 71 through an axle cup 72.
