A TV game machine (10) having a connector for detachably connecting a memory cassette (30) having at least non-volatile memories (34) containing a game program (344), picture data (341) and sound data (342-343), a processor (13) for executing the game program for the game while processing the data from the memory cassette based on the instructions of an external control means (50,50') for giving instructions to the game program. Further, it has a work RAM (20) for temporarily memorizing the progress of the game program, and a connector (21) for detachably connecting an IC card (40) including a RAM (41) having a backup power supply (42). The processor is adapted to save the progress of the game stored in the work RAM (20) in the RAM (41) in the IC card (40) and to read the progress of the game saved in the IC card into the work RAM to allow the game to be resumed from this state. |
