PURPOSE:To produce the natural type of abscisic acid in an increased amount with reduced contaminants by culturing a strain of Botrytis together with a preparation containing corn, corn bran, corn flowers, corn grits, or hominy feed. CONSTITUTION:The culture medium is mixed with at least one preparation containing corn, corn bran, corn grits, or hominy feed, sterilized by a suitable method, inoculated with an aqueous suspension of spores or mycelia of a strain in Botrytis such as Botrytis cinerea (FERM No. 6156), and the micro-organism is cultured at 10 to 35 deg.C. Then, the natural type of abscisic acid is collected from the culture mixture. The product can be purely isolated through an organic or general purification process. According to the present invention, the production can be markedly increased and the product is a clear extract almost completely free from contaminants. |
