According to the invention, the fine aluminium nitride powder is remarkable in that the mean diameter of the aluminium nitride particles does not exceed 2 microns, at least 70 % by volume of these particles having a diameter not exceeding 3 microns, and it is also notable in that it comprises at least 93 % by weight of aluminium nitride, from 0.02 to 5 % by weight of oxides at the highest atomic valency of at least one metal element chosen from the group consisting of the alkaline-earth metals, the metals of the lanthanum and yttrium family or their compounds, at most [lacuna] % by weight of bonded oxygen and at most 0.3 % by weight of the metal element of compounds of metals constituting impurities chosen from iron, chromium, nickel, cobalt, copper, zinc and titanium.
