Device for self-destruction of a magnetic tape used for sound and video with the VHS standard. The invention relates to a device which destroys, after playing it, a video and audio recorded magnetic tape, increasing the number of sales of new recorded video cassettes. The device consists of: - a tab D and a tab L, the latter provided with a toothed wheel E or with one or more claws F, which perforates or scratches the magnetic tape after it is played; - a system for locking by spacers H, I, I' or P which joins the two half-casings G and G' solidly together; - a system for blocking by a tab K which blocks the bobbin B' in the event of fast forward. The device according to the invention is particularly intended for video cassettes of the VHS standard recorded with new films intended for sale. <IMAGE>
