The planetary gear speed changer, which is electronically controlled, is used for vehicles and makes a torque converter unneccessary. The speed changer comprises an internal gear rotating with the output shaft of a vehicle engine, a sun gear whose shaft center is correspondent to the internal gear, a planetary pinion assembly which has at least two pinions and goes in gear with the internal gear and the sun gear, and a brake member which is capable of braking the sun gear. The braking force electronically controlled is linear to the revolution number of the sun gear and the speed of the vehicle.
