The invention relates to a method for forming a string of lights with an electric cable equipped with sockets at a chosen spacing, making it possible to use standardised screw-socket lamps of the Edison type. This string of lights is composed of an insulated electric cable 1 whose conductors are superposed and non-parallel, this conductor being a flat conductor of the strip 2 or braided 3 type, and of sockets which straddle this conductor, holding the latter in the manner of a vice, and drawing the electrical power from the two opposite sides by a special rider 4. This type of lighting string is longitudinally flexible and transversely semi-rigid, which stops it twisting. <IMAGE>
