PURPOSE: To automatically feed a dampening liquid by scanning non-printed areas in a region of given inked areas by a device of an opto-electric transducer, and evaluating signals generated by the scanning. CONSTITUTION: A digital video signal is written in a memory 16 between a measuring region MF and a non-printed area by scanning. When a scumming occurs on the region, a reader 62 is enabled by a signal S from a microprocessor system 56, the reader 62 reads the stored signal from the memory 61 and feeds it to a monitor 63. The monitor 63 displays the measured surface only with the scumming and a part corresponding to the measured surface of the non- printed area. In this case, a threshold value for displaying on the monitor is set to a relatively low value for judging whether a countermeasure must be taken or not at the time of starting the scumming. To automatically regulate the moistening liquid feed, the microprocessor 56 provides a program for feeding more moistening liquid in the case of the scumming. Thus, the liquid can be automatically monitored and regulated. |
