PURPOSE:To reduce the power consumption of a constituent element which is large in power consumption per unit time by providing an electric power reducing means which reduces the power consumption per unit time of a specific constituent element among the constituent elements of the equipment according to the power supply capability of a power source in use. CONSTITUTION:When an AC adapter 2 is mounted on the main body, a control part 7 controls the printing speed of a printer 6 according to a printer control table 8-2. When the AC adapter 2 is not mounted on the main body and only a dry battery 1 which can not bear a heavy power source load is mounted on the main body, a detector 3 sends a signal indicating that to the control part 7, which controls the printing speed of the printer 6 according to the printer control table 8-1. The printing speed of the printer 6 based upon the printer control table 8-1 is slower than that based upon a printer control table 8-2, so mean power consumption per unit time of the printer decreases and even the dry cell 1 which can not bear the heavy power source load can supply electric power. Consequently, the power consumption of the constituent element which is large in power consumption per unit time can be reduced. |
