PURPOSE:To increase capacity per volume and to lengthen cycle life by using a positive active material prepared by heating a lithium salt and manganese nitrate under the existence of oxygen. CONSTITUTION:A manganese nitrate solution which is liquid at room temperature is used instead of a solid manganese oxide. A lithium salt is dissolved in water, and manganese nitrate is added thereto to obtain a uniform solution. Manganese ions and lithium ions are uniformly mixed, and they are heated for reaction and to obtain uniform LiMn2O4 having high density. Since no solid- state reaction is used, the reaction progresses even at a low temperature of 200 deg.C, the reaction product has low crystallinity and shows large capacity per weight when it is used as a positive active material. A battery having large capacity per volume and long life is obtained. |
