The subject of the present invention is a hydraulic damper for motor vehicle suspension comprising a cylinder 1 and a piston 3 which is mounted slidingly in the cylinder and provided with a series of valves 15 and 16 braking the circulation of the liquid on either side of the piston, some in one direction and the others in the opposite direction, the piston 3 having an axial bore 18 in which is pivotably mounted an axial rod or hollow plug 19 capable, by pivoting, of throttling the flow of fluid through at least one of the valves.
