The centrifugal compressor with horizontal joint face has a housing (1) in which compression stages (2 and 2a) are arranged, of which the first stage (2) in the flow direction of the medium to be compressed is connected to the suction space (3) of the compressor and the last stage (2a) is connected to its pressure space. Each of the stages (2) is located in a casing connected to the housing (1). The outer surface of the wall of the casing (5) forms annular spaces (7) in the interior space (6) of the housing (1), whereas the inner surface of the wall of the casing (5) defines the flow passage (8) of the stage, which flow passage (8) is connected to the flow passage (8 or 8a) of the compression stage (2, 2a) following in the flow direction of the medium to be compressed. The flow passage (8, 8a) of each compression stage (2, 2a) is isolated from the annular space (7), which is connected to the other annular spaces (7) along the inner surface (9) of the wall of the housing (1).
