A damping device to be arranged in front of a microphone has a frame (3), on the end faces of which a screen area (5) of a rough elastic fabric (stretched nylon) is applied in each case. Between the two screen areas (5), a damping space is provided which has connection to the atmosphere via holes (4). The frame is mounted detachably on a holder which, in turn, can be attached to a base of the microphone or a support tube of the microphone by means of an elastic band (11). <IMAGE>
