Prepn of an acyl morpholide (I) of formula wherein R1 is Me or Et, R2 is H, 1-4C alkyl or alkoxy and R3 is H or 1-4C alkyl, comprises preheating an acyl halide R1-C0-X (II) wherein X is Cl or Br, in an inert solvent prior to reacting with a morpholine (III) of formula.
