The triglycerides are 2-( alpha -linolenoyl/ gamma -linolenoyl)-1,3-di(octanoyl/decanoyl) glycerol, the compositions comprising these triglycerides are nutritional compositions for enteral or parenteral purposes, and the nutritional compositions are used as nutrients. In this manner triglycerides are provided, which contain linolenic acids, which can be incorporated into enteral and parenteral nutritional products, and which provide the essential fatty acid in a highly bioavailable form.
