The invention relates to self-closing shut-off valve, the main valve of which is pilot-controlled by an auxiliary valve and which has a hydraulic closing mechanism with two pressure-medium chambers working on the displacing-piston principle. So that the closing mechanism can operate without the possibility of independent influence from outside, it is proposed to form the two pressure-medium chambers in a sliding cylinder with only one displacing piston and to load them by means of an opening spring and a closing spring in such a way that the auxiliary valve and the main valve open and close in the same direction. <IMAGE>
