In order to connect concrete reinforcement bars provided, on the surface, with profilings, e.g. in the form of ribs, in each case one metallic sleeve (3, 3') is pressed onto the ends of the reinforcement bars (1, 1') to be connected, and said sleeve is provided, over at least part of its length, with an external thread (4). A connecting body (8) provided with a corresponding internal thread is screwed onto said external thread (4). The sleeves (3, 3') thus serve only as an intermediate member for imparting a force transmission between the actual connecting body (8) and the bar ends. The advantage lies in the fact that the bars (1, 1') themselves do not need to be machined, and that the length (L), which the connecting body requires for force transmission with the pressed-on sleeves (3, 3'), lies within the length (l1, l2) which said sleeves, for their part, require for force transmission onto the bar; the bars (1, 1') can thus be connected to one another over an extremely short distance. <IMAGE>
