PURPOSE:To improve the performance of the damping force characteristics in the low speed area by abuting a pressing member on the outer end surfaces of an extension leaf valve and a compression leaf valve, communicating each pressing member with a control rod through the elastic material, and making it possible to move the control rod vertically from the outside. CONSTITUTION:At the time of the extension the oil flowing from an extension port 26a deflects an extension leaf valve 27, and at the time of the compression the oil flowing from a compression port 26b deflects a compression leaf valve 28 so as to generate the damping force respectively. When pressing members 29, 30 for abuting to the extension leaf valve 27 and the compression leaf valve 28 are moved vertically from the outside through control rods 39 and 42, the pressed load by the pressing members 29, 30 and the elastic members 31, 41 is changed, and the rigidity of the extension leaf valve 27 and the compression leaf valve 28 is adjusted in response to the load so as to adjust the damping force. Since a damping force generating mechanism by the orifice characteristics provided in a piston rod is abolished, the damping force in the low speed area of a piston 22 becomes high. |
