PURPOSE:To provide the higher sensitivity and better preservable stability by forming a silver halide emulsion produced in the presence of specific compds. and a silver halide emulsion layer contg. a nitrogenous heterocyclic compd. having a mercapto group on a base. CONSTITUTION:The silver halide emulsion layer contg. the silver halide emulsion produced in the presence of at least one kind of the compds. expressed by the formulas I to III and the nitrogenous heterocyclic compd. having the mercapto group is provided on the base. In the formulas I to III, R, R<1>, R<3> denote an aliphat. group, arom, group, heterocyclic group, M denotes a cation; L denotes a bivalent combination group, m is 0 or 1.
