An arrangement for the centring connection between two axially orientated parts of a manipulating system is described in which a mating receptacle is provided in one of the parts, such as, for example, in the spindle of a machine tool, for an axial mating extension of the other part, such as, for example, a tool-system module, and a clamping device serving to produce an applied pressure between essentially radial supporting surfaces of the parts to be coupled is also provided. The clamping device has an actuating rod via which, by means of a wedge mechanism, at least three cramp-like clamping claws arranged at a uniform peripheral distance from one another and extending essentially parallel to the extension can be pivoted into a groove-like recess while supported in the one part with a claw section lying radially inside the extension when the parts are brought together. In order to facilitate the joining of the parts but at the same time to ensure that the quality of the centring connection is increased, the extension is adapted to the position and/or the shape of the groove-like recess in such a way that it can be widened under the action of the clamping claws, swinging radially outwards, at predetermined sections for the approach of the mating surfaces.
