A method for controlling a solar installation provides for the pump (14) which pumps the water to the solar collectors to be switched on only when the temperature at the solar collectors (12) is higher by a certain preset value than the temperature in the flow pipe (13) of the installation. After the pump (14) has been switched on, a comparison of the temperatures in the return pipe (18) with those in the flow pipe (13) is made. If this temperature difference is not large enough, the pump (14) is switched off again. The comparison is repeated at regular intervals.
