The hot runner system for thermally sensitive polymers not only ensures that the heat supply is switched off if there is an interruption during processing, but also initiates the cooling operation, so that the polymer melt remaining in the hot runner system can no longer decompose due to heat contained in the system. For this purpose, the heat transfer medium is converted into heat removal medium and once again used as a heat transfer medium when starting up again after the fault has been rectified.
