The microprocessor control is used to control the basic functions of the video player, in response to signals from an input keyboard, a status signal from a cassette loading mechanism and signals from a remote control receiver. Each selected operating mode is switched in by the microprocessor only when the correct status signals have been verified, to prevent damage to the video recorder or the tape. The status signals and the video recorder operating mode are indicated by a display controlled via the microprocessor. Pref. the microporocessor incorporates a pause function during which a counter is indexed over a delay interval, with automatic restoration of the playback mode at the end of the latter.
