The invention confers protection against electrocution in the bath on electric heating appliances such as hair dryers and fan heaters, in particular in connection with a suitable circuit breaker. The heating appliance is switched off by an all-pole switch and the heating coils and/or the conductive surfaces located a short distance in front of said coils are connected or arranged so that the outwardly acting potential is substantially reduced in comparison with the full mains voltage.
