Silicon-containing carbide fibers having high strength and modulus of elasticity, and polymer compositions for production thereof. These fibrers are inexpensive and very useful as reinforcing fibers for composite materials comprising plastics, carbons, metals, etc. as a matrix. These polymer compositions are also useful as a matrix of the above composite materials.
