PURPOSE:To realize a helical tooth having an excellent adhesion with a base material and enable a highly precise working and a long life by brazing a polycrystalline diamond film made in a helical form by vapor synthesis to a tool base material having the same helical form. CONSTITUTION:A polycrystalline diamond film 3 of a helical form obtained by filming a base surface subjected to lead working with a polycrystalline diamond by vapor synthesis process and conducting a chemical treatment to dissolve and remove only the base is brazed to at least a part of the cutting face of a tool base material 1 subjected to lead working, and then the cutting face is worked to form a cutting edge. As the base, those having a small thermal expansion difference from diamond are preferred to prevent the synthetic film peeling by thermal stress, with film thickness being 50-300mum and the helix angle 5-50 deg.. Then, the polycrystalline diamond film 3 is brazed to the base material 1 of cemented carbide, in consideration of the rigidity, thermal expansion difference from diamond, and brazing property with the tool material 3. |
